Have Kite, Got Skunked

Everyone said it was windy before I arrived. We've all heard that before. I used my 12M as a trainer kite in the shallows. I tried kite loops. I put the board on my feet and messed around. I stayed on plane for 1 run. Then it got too light even for Matt to keep his 17M in the sky.

Moral of the story- Skunks are a part of life. Nobody is immune. No matter how big the kite gear, we're still going to get bitten by them sometimes.

Waquiot Bay, Kite play, SE 5-12, 12M, with Frank, Jamie, Sammy, Matt

Scooper, that's not unusual for Wacko Bay in the summer, especially August. Can't you find someplace closer to home and avoid such disappointment?

None of the local spots are as safe and easy for newbies as W Bay, especially on a Summer day with crowded beaches. I am looking forward to the time when I'm good enough to kite localy sometimes.

Try Revere

Jean- How are the Summer weekend beach crowds at Revere? I thought about going there on Sunday in the SE wind/ low tide but I was worried that I might be a hazard to beach goers. I don't think I'm ready for a spot with swimmers and kids playing at the waters edge.

There's a good amount of room, but yes, you do have to navigate around people, perhaps wait till the Fall.

What about Ninegret Pond? I've never been there, but isn't it a lot like Wacko? By the way I was there yesterday sailing. It is amazing how some of these kiters can shred so well in very light winds. However, they have years of experience behind them.

Igor- You always buy the best stuff! I'm looking forward to checking it out. Let me know if I can help at all.

Snowy Guy- Ninigret is an option but the drive is the same for me as W Bay.
